This state park in Colorado is located in an area that includes Jefferson and Gilpin counties. It is technically northwest of a community called Golden in Colorado. It features over 12,000 acres of beautiful Parkland. In the 1960s, over 40 miles of hiking trails were established in the Front Range park area. It is not only for hiking, but you can also take out horses, or ride your bicycle, on a total of nearly 30 miles of trails. As with most state parks, there is a visitor center where you can learn more about the different locations throughout the park. If you have decided that you want to do a little bit of camping, there are over 100 picnic sites, and a similar number of campsites, and most of them are taken early on which is why you should consider planning your trip accordingly.

The popularity of this park is grown exponentially over the years. Back in 2019, there were over 1 million visitors. Although this is not directly in Denver, it’s not that far away, which is why so many people decide to visit. It contains many unique areas including riparian plant communities, as well as wetlands, and this can be found along many of the creeks and small ponds.
