Visit The Clear Creek White Water Park
A trip to Golden in Colorado can be very eventful. There are many unique and beautiful places to visit. One of the best, especially during the summer months, is the Clear Creek White Water Park. Dedicated back in the 1990s, it is one of Golden’s top attractions because of its unique recreational aspects. For those that are into canoeing, or even kayaking, you can’t go wrong with this outstanding destination. Here is a brief overview of what you can expect at this waterpark just on the outskirts of Golden.
Why You Should Go To This Location
First of all, this is the best place to go if you are into water sports. If you take a canoe or kayak down the river, you will have a quarter-mile by which to have great fun. There are many sections that this waterpark is divided into. The total course length is about 800 feet. There are natural boulders that are in the water, divided up into distinct sections, with multiple pools and drops that will make your experience on the water exciting. In fact, if you are not somewhat adept at using a kayak or boat in the water, you may find this very challenging. It is a course that is fast-moving, and even during the summer months, the water can be extremely high and very cold.
What You Should Do Once You Arrive
First of all, there are no fees for anyone that simply wants to drop in. Everything there is unsupervised. There is a designated parking location at a place called Lions Park. You will see ballfields that are in the immediate area. There is also Vancouver Park which is close by which also provides some parking. This will allow you to park and continue moving downstream. Once you start, you will be able to maneuver the course, and repeat if necessary once it is completed.
Highlights Of This Waterpark
Some of the most interesting highlights of this waterpark include the six additional drop structures which were incorporated into this waterpark back in 2002. These afford experienced kayakers the ability to truly experience white water rapids. You will likely see competitions happening, some of which will occur behind City Hall, and you may also see events that are coordinated behind Washington Avenue bridge. It is because of this expansion that it now encompasses a total of seven city blocks, giving both novice and expert kayakers and those that use canoes an exceptional watercourse they will always remember.
If you decide to travel to Golden, be sure to stop by the beautiful Clear Creek White Water Park. Although Colorado is primarily known for the beautiful mountainous scenery, it’s also a great place to be during the summer. If you enjoy white water rafting, kayaks, canoes, and having a great time with friends and family, certainly consider spending a day or two there. It is an outstanding place where events such as the Clear Creek White Water Festival, the Junior Olympic Championships, and also The Open Canoe Championships have been throughout the years. Just be sure to plan your trip during the summer so that you can experience the fast moving rapids while the weather is warm. Also check out the Buffalo Bill Museum.
